calls from the Mattermost desktop client #235

Mattermost Version: 9.0.0

Plugin Version: 2.0.1

Describe the issue The problem with making calls from the Mattermost desktop client version 5.5.1. On Windows 11, MacOS Ventura, and higher, there is an issue with obtaining plugin permissions to use the microphone, camera, and screen in the Mattermost desktop client. When using the Mattermost client through a browser, everything works as expected.

Same problem. macOS Sonoma. Are you going to fix it? The issue is open from October 16.

Same issue here on Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS and snap Desktop application.

The plugin tell it was not granted permission for Audio and for Camera while never been asked for.

I face this same issue on clients installed on Windows 11 and macOS Sonoma, please what's the update on this? I'll appreciate if someone can help point me to a temp workaround/fix 🙏

mickmister commented 8 months ago

Hi @xanthio @elvisduru, is this occurring only for the Mattermost desktop app? Can you try running Mattermost in your browser?

@devinbinnie Any ideas why this may be happening?

xanthio commented 8 months ago

Yes it's a desktop app issue. It's working OK on browser

devinbinnie commented 8 months ago

Does this work for anyone using the latest nightly build? https://community.mattermost.com/core/channels/desktop-builds

Still error on : Mattermost Version : 9.7.1 Desktop Version : 5.7.0

Will this ever be fixed ? since this plugin releases is on a two years cycle.. 😭

For the avoidance of doubt, this is still not resolved - server 9.10, app 5.8.1 on Debian desktop - works to browser but not embedded - it seems that release by release the functionality is being stripped back unless you're an Enterprise user integrating with Jira. Luckily or unfortunately, the closest alternative (matrix) remains still less usable although the Element app integration for Jitsi video does actually work in a native manner.
