Mobile app stability #27

Nice to greet you MattFord.

I wanted to tell you two brief things:

1) the app in some mobiles loses stability, I don't know if it will be due to a problem with android or mobile versions, but in some it is like it gives a failure and closes shortly after being there open more than anything when it is minimized in the background, if this could be corrected it would be more than important if not people end up uninstalling it.

2) In the mobile phones that the app does not close in the background and works well, another question arises that, I imagine it is programmed intentionally so that it acts, the question is that being minimized in the background after a certain period of time ( about 45 min) it closes, users who simply want to leave the nick "hanging" without closing the app have commented to me, because they are in other occupations and when they want to reopen the app it is no longer running, it is like closes atumatically after a while. It's a shame because there are people who want to read what happened in the chat for the time or the hours that were not active and they miss out on that possibility, in short it was to know if you could modify that the app remains without closing even though this long hours mininized in background.

I want to congratulate you because the functions of saving logs and executing commands on startup are brilliant.

A hug and thanks for reading our suggestions / opinions.

Hi @Principe7 ,

Thanks for your interest. There isn't any intentional idle timeout on the app, so in theory it should stay connected indefinitely.

I am aware of some instability when the network connection switches from WiFi to mobile, and I have an issue open for that to look at once the current release is out.

I am also aware that more recent versions of Android may autoclose the app if its idle too long, this should be solved in the next update as it makes use of newer APIs which should allow the service to stay open. As I say I'll be doing some stability testing in the future.

Good morning @mattford

If I found out on my mobile that it was true, that after a certain period of time in the background the app closed automatically and I have android 7.0

Thank you very much for your answers. I will be attentive to the new version.

Hug !!

@Principe7 can you check if this happens in the current production version of the app?

App stayed open for ~1hour on my Samsung S8 with Android 9, so perhaps an issue with old versions of Android

mattford commented 3 years ago

Have tested with an emulator on Android 7 and the app successfully stays connected in the background. Will look to find/fix this bug in a future release as I'm satisfied it is intermittent at least

Hello @mattford

With the last app that is currently in the play store, the same thing continues to happen to me, after about 1 hour, it closes on its own being minimized and when I look for it the app is closed as I never opened it, I have android 7.0 on this mobile .

Thanks a hug !!

Hello

Some people who have android 8.1 and 9.0 also confirmed that after 1 hour being minimized, the app closes and it looks like they had never left it minimized, they open the icon and it is ready to connect again as if it had not been opened before .

Thank you for reading.

From bangbang_budip on Discourse:

Looks like when the connection got timed out, any messages can’t be sended or received, the command function can’t be used too… tried the disconnect from the server button also doesn’t work and the app seems to 'freezed" The only way to fix this is force-closed the app and then reconnecting again…
