Apparently this already "works" as is. They use "node lines" as long as they are coming from a "friendly" planet (unoccupied planets don't count) Unsecured trade zones cannot be visited until raiding is unlocked.
Also applies to freighters leaving or returning from/to the middle of a zone.
TODO: document the specifics of this better, so that I can know what else is tweakable about trade zones.
This is similar to issue #117 Neither humans nor zuul have a realisitc way to get to the center of a TZ easily or quickly.
Unlike with any tweaks to freighters (that only affect freighters), being able to send warships into the middle of the zone easily.... this doesn't seem easily adjustable without breaking something else. Regular ships need to be able to move there.
Maybe I can flag one particular engine section (or command?) with a decent FTL (but not great)? Maybe a personal bore machine? Reverse engineer zuul tech? (unavailable without zuul in game?) ... thats not a bad idea.
