Hi Matt

I have been lucky enough to inherit a Vaisala WXT536 which appears to be the successor to the WTX520. I am also lucky enough to lay my hands on a Startech RS232 to IP converter NETRS2321E which whilst discontinued still works.

So my question is, can the code be reworked to suit IP data? If not I am looking at a simple RS232 to USB interface for something like a Pi....

I appreciate that you are super busy with the release of v5 of weewx shortly so anything to get me going would be really helpful...

Best wishes

Jon

Current systems: WS90, Davis Vue. (cannot wait for a simple setup for 2 or more systems in the config!).

@matthewwall - Scratch the idea of an IP based unit. The RS232 is now sorted however I appear to be missing rain data such as daily rain etc..

Thoughts? I have attached the reference for the WXT53* range if it helps...

not sure what you mean by 'missing rain data'. when you run weewx directly, do you see values for 'rain_total' in the LOOP data?

Hi Matthew It appears that any rain detected stays just that, detected only with no measurement of how much. Therefore no daily data etc. I have copied a short amount of data from journalctl -f on themachine and have attached it.

Also screen shot from the season report from the Vaisala machine plus a screen shot from my Ecowitt WS90 machine. The Ecowitt figure is using the tipping bucket sensor which is still more accurate that the Piezo sensor!

We have had over 40mm of rain today!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The units appears to be good quality but...

I do not know anything about code, yet. I am trying to learn but getting it through a 61YO head is heard! I want add an RS485 Pyranometer to the system but that will have to wait...

Thank you,
