Told you I'd work on this one day... #58

Finally got a project for which I can play with plata. This is probably the tip of the iceberg of changes I'll make, but thought I should alert you to the impending iceberg before it grew too much larger.

Also, there seem to be three broken tests that are unrelated to the changes I've made. (though I didn't run the test suite before all of my changes, so can't be certain)

Yes, the testsuite is also broken with my next version...

Messy merge, but I'll sort this out :-)
