Requesting detailed data from the authors of a publication should become part of the curation process. Therefore a template message to the authors has to be created.

The first version of a template:

Dear {first_name} {second_name}, with great interest, we have read your paper “{title}” and decided to include its content into PK-DB1 - “a pharmacokinetics database for individualized and stratified computational modeling”. Initially, we carefully curate the reported pharmacokinetic data and the characteristics of the corresponding subjects, create an identifier for the publication and make it publicly available on www.pk-db.com. There is no obligation/need for you to participate in that process. However, the curation process involves time-consuming, error-prone, and sometimes inaccurate extraction of data from figures. Getting the raw data obviously greatly improves the reusability of your data, unlocking its potential for data integration and mathematical modeling. Needless to say, we would greatly appreciate your contribution, correspondence via {this.dedicated@mail.adress}.

In case you decide not to participate in the curation process, you still have the opportunity to review the curation. For that matter, we are going to send you a follow-up mail as soon as the data is publicly available.

best regards, …
