I have tested on official app / website and it works.

It seems to be an Kodi add-on issue.

Then my bad Matt. What I meant was after previous issue, your fix in 0.16.4 solved my playback which was the JSON thing. Now the update to 0.16.6 gives this new Playback Failed error. It's coincidental because I have auto update enabled and did not have chance to today to check for difference between 0.16.4 & 0.16.6 on my set top box. Apologies if I came across as accusatory. We are at your esteemed mercy for resolution. Thanks in advance for your diligence and effort. 😃

just to be clear, I don't approve of pre-built kodi boxes with shared logins at all.

I make addons for users who have subscriptions to services but want to enjoy those services on different platforms or a constant familiar interface (kodi).

dstv could easily stop the shared logins by making a users login auth token being a 1-shot. So, when the auth token refreshes - any old tokens are no longer valid. Solved.

That would stop sharing a user-data folder with the add-on pre-logged in. Would force every user to need to actually login themselves to get a unique token / refresh token.

So, if your using this add-on and don't actually have a dstv subscription - then I don't want to hear from you. They have costs. If you like their content then pay for a subscription.

I'm not talking about sharing passwords with family (aka multiple devices) I'm talking about users who don't actually know the password for the login they use

I really don't follow the kodi pirated scene so have no idea. I didnt even know that was a thing until recently.

I know of the old kodi boxes with pirate addons (seren, turk etc) installed "kodi box sellers" but didn't know some were shipping "legit" addons with pre-logged in accounts.

I prefer the kodi add on above the dstv app, but if I have kodi problems like the past few days I just use my app installed on my tv box and , the app is a bit frustrating because it is very slow, but I can deal with that for a few days. I must say I am very grateful to Matt for helping me with this frustration. For now I will use the app and I am very exited because I know soon my add on will make life pleasant again. I do think they guys selling the preloaded boxes has a lot of people complaining about bad service.lol

No not in SA at least, we dont get pre built box sellers (or they not dime a dozen)... what is happening is password sharing, like myself, i own the main account, but my folks cannot afford dstv, so they get my app credentials and my wife and kids (who are tech savvy) we use Kodi.

When I grew up we had 1 tv set in the house and we all had to watch the same show, maby we must all spend more time with each other in the living room and get rid of all other tv's in our homes...that is one way of solving this.

Here in South Africa the is a line between people who afford to pay any amount on dstvnow and other people who want to get the service but don't afford by the way Black and Coloured are the most venerable by default 9 people in 4 room and 4 back rooms and we do support but forgotten after ![Uploading Screenshot (901).png…]()

FYI: this isn't dead. :) work going on behind the scenes in Inputstream adaptive etc that hopefully will help It's been working on Android last few weeks but don't want to release half-ready

Has issue on non-android platforms where DSTV detects each widevine request as a different device. Therefore, need to wait 90 seconds between stopping a stream and starting a new one. The addon will tell you how many seconds left before can retry.

And yes - the addon adheres to the concurrent stream policy. They enforce this cleverly at the Widevine server
