Custom category entries disappearing #420

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Created two custom category beer selections
2.Users enter under those categories
3.At some point those entries disappear

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Entries under custom categories should be in database.  Not seeing custom 
category entries.  Verified this by using mysql command and selecting the 
brewing table.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.3.0.4, Linux on AWS
