Can't enter winner for custom winning category #447

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a custom winning category
2. Attempt to select category and enter winning entry

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Winning beer is entered
Behavior: When selecting the custom category, the combo reverts back to "Choose 
Below:".
When a winning entry number and place are entered and submitted, the winner is 
not saved.
Workaround is to manually edit the database.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.3.0.4

Please provide any additional information below.
