What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Unable to connect my TiVo
2. able to open preference pane to enter my MAK code - I get "Can’t get 
window "PrefsPanel". (-1728)"

I have the same problem, except that I am able to connect to my Premier only 
(not the series 2 tivos) through it's IP address.

 OSX ver 10.8.2. Premiere XL tivo (and two series 2 tivos.

itivo Version 1.7.7b3 (1.7.7b3) 

"Can’t get window "PrefsPanel". (-1728)" is the error message. therefore, I 
cannot download anything.
