Multiple TiVos #25

This is probably an "Enhancement".

I have two TiVos (both Series 2). I can get the Now Playing list from one
and then add programs to the Download Queue. THEN, I can switch to my
other TiVo and add programs to the Download Queue.

When I click Download Now on the Download Queue area, the entries that are
from the TiVo whose contents are NOT in the Now Playing list disappear and
it downloads the ones from the "current" TiVo.

If the info for the Download Queue included the info needed to switch
TiVos, when needed; that would be cool!

Hmm.. my original response was going to be "sorry, the code as written supports
only
1 tivo"... but I guess it shouldn't be too hard to simply store which tivo was
used
to fetch the show info... so ermm.. probably will add it in an upcoming version

  HOWEVER:
even if that code is added, subscriptions will not connect to multiple tivos.
and it will still download only one show at a time (not one per tivo).

Those 'features' are unlikely to be added since they would require extensive
changes to the code. I really should start pointing people at more powerful
tools..
I only did this to get some shows to my phone.. sigh :)

  Marking as Enhancement.

From looking at the log output, it did seem like there would be an issue since
it
appeared to be sort of "session" based. Like maybe it was tied to the use of
the
fifo pipe or something. It is one of the things I lke about tivobutler, but
tivobutler does an http download (I think) and then procceses the resultung
files
with tivoencoder and mencoder.

Thanks for thiking about it, it was just an idea...

This can be done rather easily... and it would also address the issue of iTiVo
becoming unresponsive for like 20
seconds or more sometimes when fetching the "Now Playing List". There are
several ways of accomplishing this...

I experienced the same issue trying to queue shows from my HD and Series2
TiVos. If you need someone to test a beta version before release, let me know.

Would it work to have multiple queue views, one for each available tivo? If
done that way, would it allow simultaneous downloads as well? That would be
fantastic if it did... 8-)
