9 years ago So I *do* think it's a cool idea, but here are the problems:
I can easily pick a bandwidth throttle for downloads from the tivo, however, I
think this would be a first-case where anyone has complained that the tivo is
downloading too fast... (tivo already won't really let you download anything
quickly).
There *is* a different problem with the fact that when the encode is going on, a
LOT of cpu power is taken up by the computer, and it slows everything down.
I can't pause downloads from the tivo (any attempt to do so will cause the tivo to
time out and then you'd have to redownload the whole show from scratch). it
*is*
possible to pause the encoders, although I'll leave that as a 'feature
enhancement'
for the future.
In the meanwhile, if it's slowing down your machine significantly, the easiest
solution might be to configure iTiVo to do the downloads at night (there's a
scheduling thing in the preferences). Just add the shows you want to the
queue, and
iTiVo will fetch them whenever you schedule the downloads.
