How to escape text with @ for invalid accounts

Attempting to submit text containing the @ symbol with an invalid account will result in an error. Is there any way to escape this?

$ bsky post IDOLM@STER
XRPC ERROR 400: InvalidRequest: Error: actor must be a valid did or a handle
