jvgrep foo . のように存在するディレクトリに対してココが機能して、 No such file or directory となって検索できなくなっていました。

前後の文脈から、存在するディレクトリに対しては後に続くパス展開(~, *, $環境変数) の下準備を避けるべきと判断し、その部分を別関数 (prepareGlob()) に分けた上で修正してみました。
