Color lines by year #1

Emphasize more recent years by using a palette that increases in luminosity. Have a selected year (like current year) contrast against all others. Consider grays for background years.

Consider how to represent average depth (a third color? maybe not)

This is a cute idea, but probably not a good idea.

A slider allowing the user to filter by year range is more effective and less noisy/chaotic.
