We'd like to match extracted spectra with photometric catalogs so that we at least know where the objects are on the sky. Currently this is done by visual inspection of the mask/spectra in DS9.
For MOS, this should be relatively straightforward to automate, given a mask design file in some format.
For longslit, this may be a tall order. However, for BEAMS, we do know which DES galaxies define the slit direction, so it may be possible?
