After install of the Oculus fix, Steam VR will not start and gives error 301. Message in Subject line of this Issue. Uninstalling the Input Emulator returns Steam VR to normal function. NOT using Steam VR Beta.

I had to update my Nvidia drivers then Oculus software and steamVR to their beta versions before steamVR would leave the gray screen condition.

I have determined that my specific issue is with the hardware peripheral 3DRudder, which seems to use openvr for its own control emulation. Unfortunately a simple uninstall of 3drudder software will not fix this. Steam has to be reinstalled, then the openvr emulator functions as normal.

Hello all, I had same problem but using 1.2 works with new beta verion and steam for openvr. If I install 1.3 it gives the hardware error as well.

Hi DoubleUDot. I'm having the exact same problem with 3dRudder, input.emulator and the 301 error. Did uninstall 3drudder software, which by the way I'm about to return. Great idea but I'm finding many inconveniences, plus I've had two "blue screen of death" since I got it, first time in W10.

Still getting 301 error, so I'm about to try your solution, install SteamVR from scratch... but wait there, did you mean Steam completely or just SteamVR?

Cheers! g.
