Steam VR and Windows Mixed Reality Update 27.01.2018 - #72

Hi there,

I set up the Open VR InputEmulator to use the left joystick for locomotion during Fallout4 VR. I had activated the openvr-inputemulator-temporary beta branch on SteamVR and everyhing was working well for the last few days.

There has been an update for Steam VR and Windows Mixed Reality today which seems to have killed this functionality. Steam will not launch with the openvr-inputemulator-temporary beta branch activated it gives an error 301 "A key component of SteamVR isn't working properly"

If I don't opt into the beta and launch through official SteamVR the Open VR Input emulator appears in the dashboard but then disappears after a few seconds.

Anyone else experiencing the same or have a fix?

Yesterday, the WMR SteamVR driver got an update to allow it to use the new OpenVR input system. This means that the WMR HMDs can work in the stable branch when the Input Emulator is installed. Unfortunately, remapping the sticks doesn't work now because @matzman666 needs to know the inputs of the WMR controllers and he only owns a Vive.

The dashboard overlay doesn't disappear for me though. I'm using v1.3 of the Input Emulator, the latest WMR SteamVR driver update, and the SteamVR stable branch.

Ah-ha thank you for the response, I did notice that after removing and reinstalling SteamVR and Mixed Reality from Steam that I was able to access the input emulator but as you mention the remapping doesn't work.

Is there anything I can do to help? I'm a novice but if there is anything I can do to find the details for the WMR controller inputs I'd be happy to help.

Cheers
