Database backup/restore doesn't work #30

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. SETTINGS\Backup Database. It gives indication that theoperation was
successful.
2. Remove SD card and put it in Android tablet (ASUS Eee Pad Transformer using
Honeycom)
3. Restore database. No previously entered food or activities appear. Database
is empty.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Previosly stored entries should appear after backup/restore.

What version of WWDiary are you using (check the "what's new" screen)?
6.25

What version of Android are you running?
2.3.4 on my HTC Thunderbolt phone (which is where I backed up the dbase), and
3.1on my ASUS tablet.

What device do you have (phone/tablet)? What brand/model?
See above

Please provide any additional information below.
Sync doesn't seem to work on either devise.

Also tried syncing from my phone to myaccount, but doesn' seem to work either.

Backup/restore with sdcard is more complicated than it sounds. It has to do
with how the tablet or phone may treat the "sdcard" either as the card or
internal memory (even if it also has a card)

About syncing, do you have a subscription on the forum?

If the auto syncibg would work, I shouldn't need to backup/restore. I want
to have access to my data one both devices without having to duplicate my
efforts.

I do see some information from you in the database. It looks like the sync
started.

What makes you think it's not working?

It seemed to work this time.

Ok. I'll close the ticket then.
Keep in mind that entries won't immediately move from one device to the other.
It could take up to an hour (depending on the sync frequency you have set on
both devices)

This will change when I get push notifications working (high priority).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on the forum :)
