Zygor's guide has this functionality (inside Sync.lua). It seems quite complex, has several functions for creating packets, unpacking, handling received packets and so on and so forth. Think it's gonna take a long time to implement compared to some of the other feature requests.

Thanks for the tip. You are right. It would be quite a task. On the other hand it would be a great feature to have. Especially considering that some guides being worked on are specifically meant for partys. I would try to keep it simple and just communicate which step everybody is on and what the progress on that step is.
