distutils deprecated in Python 3.12 causing import error #15

Hello there,

Thanks a lot for your amazing work building this library, it is super helpful.

There is one use in the simulation module of error, from distutils, while the whole library is deprecated from Python 3.12. Therefore it would be great to have it replaced or removed from pycop.

Sorry, there are a few uses of error from distutils, not one use.
