I today received my Argon M.2 case, when I install BerryBoot, I get a " System partitioncould not be unmounted " error.

After reboot I can download/install the OS of my choice using BerryBoot,

When I try to boot the installed OS, I get "Timed out waiting for device /dev/disk/by-label/boot

I tried it several times, with different OS'es and using several SD cards.

I got "Error unmounting system partition" when trying to format WD Blue SSD to ext4 with the Argon one m.2 case.

Same issue here. I bought the case specifically so I can boot from SD, but have all the OS-es on an SSD as shown in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLc4pF3jZQg. However, this seems to be possible only with 1GB,2GB,4GB versions, but not with the 8GB version.

If you watch the video I've posted this errors seems to be present for an unknown reason, because the person in the video also got this error, but he managed to install the OS anyway.

I have the 8 GB version inside the Argon case now. Maybe I have to try it with 4 GB version and see if it works better. Hopefully tomorrow I have time to try it.

Ne7WoRK commented 3 years ago

Well, I don't know if it is possible with the 8GB version......it might be, but I am unable to succeed with it for a week now. There is no guide, information or whatsoever about how to do it with the 8GB version

WarmT commented 3 years ago

I had the same issue with 4 GB version too. Accroding to this video the issue with 8 GB version is solved already in June which indicates that this is some unrelated issue from the RAM size. Moreover, there seems to be several issues open with the same symptoms where there is no argon case either. Maybe this issue has nothing to do with the Argon case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnRxoTP5-Js

Okay for me, it's kinda working, I have the 8 GB version, the only problem is after I restart the system, I have to manually disconnect the dongle and reconnect it again, which is very annoying, but I don't think this issue can be solved by the berryboot team, because it's same with other distros as well, this might be a sata or usb controller issue, I'm not sure.

EDIT: Today I bought a different cable to connect the ssd (the bottom piece) to the RPi, and it booted right away so I think this ticket might can be closed.

Thanks--I will give that a try.

Also, one more thing, since my last reply, I messaged the support via email (cs@argon40.com) and they sent me a replacement USB connector and it booted right away it as well.

jejones3141 commented 3 years ago

They're sending me one; I will post here about the results.

Got the replacement USB bridge from Argon today. Replaced it, again installed RPiOS 64-bit and tried to boot it. No difference whatsoever; it still times out after waiting 90 seconds to access /dev/disk/by-label/boot.

Over on https://github.com/maxnet/berryboot/issues/707, the suggestion is to build a custom image for berryboot... but shouldn't that be put wherever berryboot goes by default to get that OS to install, rather than making everybody go through the rigamarole?
