Hi @ge0rg,
I am sorry to see that you are experiencing this rather weird issue. For the sake of completeness, my PowerPoint release is:
Microsoft® PowerPoint® per Microsoft 365 MSO (Versione 2303 Build 16.0.16227.20202) a 32 bit
Aside from the build number, which I would ignore altogether, the only remarkable difference is the architecture: 64 instead of 32 bits. To be honest, I doubt that this can cause issues in loading the add-in, both because to my knowledge it does not contain any architecture-specific components (except, possibly, some dialog box controls, which are taken from the Office installation anyway and are knowingly available on both architectures) and because I have not received similar reports.
So, my suggestion is to keep the add-in disabled in the add-in management window of PowerPoint and try to open file PPspliT.pptm directly in PowerPoint: hopefully this might trigger a more informative error message about the cause for failing to load the add-in.
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, opening the file doesn't yield any useful message, and neither activates the add-in. However, removing it from the "Manage PowerPoint add-ins" dialog, then manually adding it there, pops up a macro warning, where I can enable macros for it:
Then it remains enabled until I quit PowerPoint, which is good enough I suppose.
P.S: This might be a consequence of some corporate GPO, so maybe not directly applicable to everybody.
Thank you @ge0rg for performing this verification. It is indeed possible that your PowerPoint security settings are preventing PPspliT from loading automatically at PowerPoint startup. You can check these settings as indicated in this guide and, although there is a small chance that your Domain administrator is enforcing an established choice, I would not immediately consider this as a cause.
For your reference, I am not seeing any warnings and PPspliT always loads successfully at PowerPoint startup with the following settings on my workstation:
Most likely, PowerPoint is accepting the PPspliT macro package because it is installed in a path that appears in the list of trusted locations, which you can edit by following this guide. Here is the relevant setting on my workstation (the highlighted path is the location where PPspliT is installed by the setup wizard):
So, finally, I suggest you check your macro security settings as well as your list of trusted locations.
I've successfully installed the plugin, without any error messages.
When starting PowerPoint, it is not displayed on the ribbon.
When going through "Options" / "Add-ins" / "Manage PowerPoint add-ins", it is listed without a checkmark. When I try to enable it, this error message is shown:
Translation: "Unfortunately, PowerPoint was unable to load the add-in for some reason." (I'm not kidding you)
