Camera does not boot after switching Lepton 2.5 for Lepton 3.5 #71

Hi,

I've been using the DIY camera for several months with a Lepton 2.5 sensor. I recently purchased a Lepton 3.5 sensor I want to use with the camera. However, when I put in the Lepton 3.5 sensor, the camera never goes past the initial boot-up screen. I've checked to make sure the sensor is completely set inside the FLIR break-out board, so that is not the issue. Using another FLIR breakout board separate from the DIY camera, I tested the Lepton 3.5 sensor I found it was faulty, the shutter does not work. I am getting a replacement, but I don't think the bad shutter should be affecting whether or not the DIY camera boots up. While I wait for the replacement sensor, I thought I could troubleshoot the problem. Any ideas?

To follow-up, we receive a new Lepton 3.5 sensor and the camera began booting up! For anyone else, if you're having problems with a new sensor, make sure the sensor isn't faulty before looking into a firmware problem.
