Voice-over Cueing #2

In real life, voice communications are often initiated with a nonverbal cue. A telephone ring, an knock at the office door, a wave hello. Without these, abrupt verbal communications can be startling.

Play a discrete sound to cue the pomodoro announcement.

There should be a simple ruby gem or library that plays audio files.

  1. Consult the ruby book library for this.
  2. Lookup a gem.
  3. Look up an instructional blog post or QA stack.

There should be some easy sources of sound effects.

They may be Free

  2. Samples from free music like altus
  3. Use open software
    • A piano or guitar chord
    • A simple tone
    • A synth tone
  4. Record a sound effect /w phone
    • A Knock
    • Throat clearing
    • Guitar or piano chord
    • etc.
  5. OSS/CC sound sources

Or we could cheat

  3. Steal a sound effect from a game or other media
  4. Use a sound from my phone
  5. Download some sound effects

It turns out that Freesound.org is an absolutely amazing source of attribution free (CC0) sounds! No cheating, recording, or real work required!
