I'm amazed at the work you did, this project is great ! Such a bummer that everything is on hold.

1) Github isn't really meant to discuss in general, but is there any other way to keep tab on the project ?

I'm on the latest release (3.1.1) and I have a few questions, maybe I'm not getting things right. If it's better to file multiple 'issue tickets' instead of that big mess, do tell me.

2) On my w10, everything seems fine, on mac running latest MacOs (11.2.3) and latest firefox (87.0) I can't get past the splash page, my devices are not authenticated. An admin as to press the "Authenticate" button to the right of that person IP.

Is there an option to automatically authenticate anyone ?

My mac can then connect to the admin page just fine, but never to the portal and the applications. I think because the connection gets automatically upgraded to https and that breaks it.

I've tried reconfiguring my browser 'about:config' but to no avail, and even, I can't expect people to do this. In my understanding of things, that was a major problem with the piratebox project which shares some aspect with mazizone.

3) Something small but bugging me, I changed the portal domain, from 'mazizone.eu' to 'partagez.local' and I can't seem to change it again ^^

- 4) Is it possible to independantly update the applications, like etherpad and nextcloud to their latest version, without updating the mazizone itself ? I can successfully stream MP4 files for example, but MKV are unsupported and only offer download. With a plugin or a newer nextcloud I'm confident it's doable.

- 5) Do you have a plan going on for the funding ? Like donations ? Or bounties to get developers to tackle bugs in exchange for X euros ?

Thanks a lot for this project!

For 2) I tested using Firefox and Safari, fiddling with the settings : no luck. I installed Waterfox and it works. It has to do with the httpS part in my opinion, a less regarding browser does fine.

For 3) I exported my preferences in the admin panel, manually changed the domain name; and imported the zip back. It changed the stuffs, although I now have some errors in the console panel (but no visible bug, everything fine)

Dear RomainLG- thanks for your positive message. MAZI was developed as part of an EU funded project and while there is still interest in the approach, development effectively finished in 2019. Some of us are still interested in how this approach might be useful going forwards (e.g. in communities where there is little internet access), and have interest from community groups. However, the original development team (from a university) is no longer employed, so the code is likely to be static until some new developers decide to solve bugs or take what was good and build a new version. I am not sure whether the original programmers check this repository any more ( I was one of the team that trialled MAZI in community settings, not a coder). Here is the current web page: https://mazizone.net/ From the transfer of the domain, some URLs are broken but the page above is still accessible here: https://mazizone.net/mazi-eu/toolkit/

Some of the MAZI team are using DietPi these days as a more up to date alternative.

Best wishes, we are open to your ideas Mark
