Hi, can you please implement reader mode?

Thank you very much.

Joint task with: https://github.com/mb1986/rm-hacks/issues/30

For a battery saving reader mode (on rm1) I'm wondering if turning off wifi and putting the device to sleep would be feasible -- and when the left or right button is pressed, the device could wake up shorty, turn the page and go to sleep again. Middle button could end reader mode. I imagine this could make the rm to an ebook reader with similar usage time as "regular" ebook readers... Would this be possible? Does the system consume considerably less energy in whatever sleep mode possible?

Sleep mode puts a black bar on top of the display. It would have to be removed and replaced with something else to let the user know it is in sleep mode.

Something small at the bottom of the display. Otherwise I'll keep trying to turn the page and not know why it won't work :)

But it's a good idea. I would welcome it too but I have an rm2, there I would have to keep pressing the power button.

I was more thinking of "sleep mode" in the technical sense: some state of the cpu/system that has very low power consumption.

BTW: In older versions of the firmware it was easily possible to replace the black bar with a self chosen image -- I used to put a little sleeping smiley somewhere.

Anyhow: for a energy-saving "reader mode" I'd propose to have a little "reader" (glasse?) icon e.g. in the upper left corner, and if the cpu is sleeping or not would be immaterial, as only buttons would be functional.

But it's a good idea. I would welcome it too but I have an rm2, there I would have to keep pressing the power button.

yes, it's a pitty that the current fashion seems to be "touch everywhere". Buttons have their application and can be quite handy.

I second the "tap to change page": it would be a great addition, if possible! I use the Rm2 for sheet music and the normal swipe gesture is slow and a little finicky, sometimes it takes more than one try to change page.
