@mbaeuerle Are you interested in this PR? (I know I've changed the build system quite a bit, hoping it still works for you)

Hey! Sorry for not responding in time. Currently I don't have the time to work on Briss, so I could not check your PR. But I gave you the right to collaborate, so you can add it yourself. The build system works on Unix and Windows right? In that case it's ok for me!

But maybe you can explain a little bit about your added feature.

Yeah, gradle will work on Unix and Windows, and build artifacts that work for both as well.

In summary, this allows the user to split pages vertically & horizontally (it solved my problem of cleanly loading two-column pdfs on my kindle), both through the command line and through the UI. Also fixed some random things (e.g. the donation menu item).
