Personally I didn't have any use for the library outside of ubuntu-latest and did not pay attention to the compatibility with other OS.

I think it is safe to assume that the library is broken on Windows.

Please let me know if you have an interest for this - I suspect that it should be possible to fix without too much work (famous last words!).
