Requested Enhancement to Import: xlsx #219

Hi,
   Is it possible/easy to allow the use of an xlsx file in addition to the xls now available for import into Biolink?  Or is there some way to work around the 65,000 record limit?   I am currently working with a large dataset (~1.5-2 million records) that will be wiped out and re-imported annually.  The reason for this is that the data is coming from various federal agencies that have determined that it is easier to send a new version of the database every year than track incremental changes.  

    Our plan had been to attach the annually renewed Oracle databases and use various views and queries to transform the data into something easily digestible by Biolink.  Then link the final view (with data formatted for importing) via oledb to an excel file to pull the new data for importing.  To make this process as painless as possible for the collection manager everything would be a black box between attaching the new Oracle database and choosing the excel file to import.  

   So if allowing this file format is an easy or planned enhancement it would be greatly appreciated.  Otherwise we will have to rethink and opt for a tab delimited ending to the process.  Any thoughts or advice is welcome.  Many thanks in advance for your time.

Hi Trevor,

If possible, could I get a copy of your xlsx file? It would be good to know the 
size and type of data you are trying to import. I expect it will be too big to 
email, so perhaps you could use dropbox or something like it. If you can email 
me a link directly I will take a look at what can be done. 

The import stuff is fairly modular, so if I can find an appropriate library for 
dealing with xlsx it should be fairly straight forward.
