Hi Jemma,

Again, apologies for missing the issues you flagged and your pull requests from 2017 & 2018, I did not mean to ignore them!! I've recently done some major updates to remove the sp/rgdal dependencies, and it's probably easiest if I fix these issues on my branch.

No idea if you still use riverdist these days, hope the issues with it didn't adversely affect your workflow.
