I squashed and reordered the commits a bit to go with your cherry-picks.

What do you think? The wildcard Python part should work for any version of python3, so I hope that's ok.

Out of curiosity, which distro do you try this on and which version of python3 does it ship?

Anyway, built, installed, ran this, as always.
