In fact, because licencing problem, the icons are not included in the Debian
package. A future version will include a logos download system. But until this
will be done, you can get all icons from the official source package, and put
them in the .config/freetuxtv/images/channels directory.

It does not work for me either. Firstly: there is no directory named
"~/config/freetuxtv" on my Ubuntu, but there is a "~/config/FreetuxTV" one.
Secondly: putting channel images in ""~/config/FreetuxTV/images/channels"
directory has no effect.
However copying the images to "/usr/share/freetuxtv/images/channels" (as it
would be done automatically if compiled & installed from sources) solved the
problem.

In fact, the correct directory was ~/.local/share/freetuxtv/images/channels
