app.py makes me think you didn't read Every Code Review Ever!

• don't commit commented code
• your app entry point (app.py) has stuff that should probably live somewhere else
  • classes Comment and Confusion should be in something like backend.models
  • your db configuration and connection instantiation should be in their own file/module
  • routes are okay to have in app.py in a small project, but they tend to move to their own file pretty quickly
