AMBE File Record and Playback #11

Ability to record AMBE files (.dvtool and .ambe) with the ability to manage them for replay on a stream (e.g. a brag file, net preamble, etc.)

Also a convenient way to transfer them to a gateway for playback over the repeater (using cron and tools).

Allow slow data to be populated along with the audio.

I think the way to do this for Buster is not to record as AMBE, but to record as AAC so that they'll be more useful in general. I think we just want to go ahead and record every QSO to disk, then they can be exported for offline use. On the inverse, people could then just use their favorite audio recording and editing software (or QuickTime which is on every Mac) to make their pre-canned files. We can just have a File->Play Audio or something to play it on the air. Transferring to a gateway is a function for the "Gateway Administrator" program.

RE: people could then just use their favorite audio recording and editing software. I use Audio Hijack and Fission from http://rogueamoeba.com. Both work great.
