You're more likely to see locations from ID51s because they have built-in GPS receivers. The 31's and 5100's do too, but they're less popular. The GPS-A (APRS Style) seems to work fine. I need to do some verification on the old-style GPS to make sure it's still working okay.

You can actually set the ID-51 into GPS-G mode. I don't know why you would want to, but it at least allows me to test.
Yeah and I forgot, I would have to find a GPS to plug into the 91AD ... just trying to be helpful :)

Nope. Understood. Just need to make sure it's working. I have a corpus of a few thousand NMEA strings that I test with occasionally, but that doesn't necessarily mean it works live.
All of the Locations I have seen come from ID51s. This am one came in thru a DVAP which the sender said was hard coded into it.
