I'm talking about 3.3, since 3.4 is even worse.
Having more than 3 workers (multiple instances) in 3.3 results in constant database locks, which means your scans will stop being 'green', and will usually slow down to the point where you're lucky to be notified of a spawn when there's more than 6 minutes left.
3.4 is a wreck. Even having a single worker will result in a database lock once a single complete search has been finished, and the app refuses to scan any further unless you restart the app (meaning a restart every 5 minutes pretty much). The only thing multiple workers help you do is manage to lock the database faster.
