How does Mel take notes during a meeting? #21

Case study: first meeting with Insper. Mel and Brittany across from each other at the end of a long table, other participants beside.

Mel starts realizing she has no idea how to handle a meeting where she's actually understanding everything, and starts simultaneously grinning (Brittany's word: smirking) and frantically trying to figure out what to do. In particular, when the person to her left starts talking, it is difficult to IGNORE THE SPEECH SOUNDS!!! because that's always been a cue to turn and lipread the one or two people Mel has any chance at all of understanding. Also, how... how does she look down to take notes now? Mel is frantically scribbling in terrible handwriting, trying to not look down at all, and this is... failing...

Other case study: Alexandra's practice talk, where Brittany came in partway through and Mel had been engaging in her usual "let me think deeply about individual words from slides, not really paying attention to the presentation or conversation I can't hear" behavior -- and the subsequent switch to "wait, I can look at slides and take notes, and you can hold and chunk?" stuff Mel is still trying to learn (yes, Brittany, I know you know how to do this, but I don't).

I think this is improving and I'm learning, but I want to leave this open for at least one more iteration because I don't feel comfortable/steady-state in it yet.

Brit holds and chunks, Mel takes brief notes that are not all of her thoughts at once. Cues BY if she doesn't care.
