dual-boot fails when USB power is on and the serial console cable is NOT connected #24

Quite baffling:

1- Install dual-boot.
2- Plug the cable.
3- Reset the device while holding SELECT pressed.

The SPL dingux splash screen will show up but nothing else. Don't know if
it fails to load u-boot or u-boot fails, because (and here comes the fun):

IF YOU CONNECT THE SERIAL CONSOLE IT BOOTS FINE.

One could think that maybe u-boot is getting some stray serial input when
the serial console cable is not connected and thus stops booting and waits
for instructions. However if that was true the USB power would have nothing
to do, and actually when USB power is not applied it boots fine with and
without the serial console cable connected.

No idea of what's going on. Since I can't use the serial console cable, the
only possible way to know what's going on is to make the SPL and/or u-boot
output stuff to screen... and that's less than trivial.
