This PR is very insightful of the recent issue you brought up, however you have committed your changes to the distribution directory which is generated automatically during nam package build therefore I cannot merge your PR. If you planing to contribute to the project, you should focus on scripts directory where all source files are contained.
As I already mentioned on the issue page I will be updating project for newest vapor project in a branch and I would be great if you could check it out later.
