Ignore subdirs/file types in search

Hi, I have a subdir with all of the images attached to org files. They get name automatically based on the file they are in, so they get a valid denote file name, but with an image file type. This means they get suggested as actual notes. Is there a way to set ignored directories or file types to avoid this?

the excellent denote has got us covered here actually: just set denote-excluded-directories-regexp.
