I have tried to use the Internet Connectivity Monitor (ICM) to check out the
connectivity of my BT Infinity broadband as I know it stops working sometimes
and I need evidence to get BT to sort it out.
When I tried it yesterday, the ICM seemed to be working (and had registered 4
short term disconnections) during the first few hours. I then noticed (about
an hour later) that the ICM registered 'Not Connected' from 16:11 onwards. All
the lights were 'blue' on my BT Hub 3 indicating all should have been OK with
the internet connection so I tried my Firefox browser. This connected to the
internet without a hitch. Only then did the ICM show 'Connected'. It appears
as if it somehow stopped registering that the internet connection was working.
I have a dynamic IP address. Could this be a problem?

I ran into this same issue when trying to monitor the connection to our
corporate domain. When I left it to monitor the default (google), it
immediately started working correctly. Perhaps there's something wrong with
alternate addresses.
