Rhino crashes when Steam VR opens #13

Version 7 SR15 (7.15.22039.13001, 2022-02-08) Commercial

Oculus quest 2 (Oculus link)

Hello all, right after launching Rhino VR, steam VR launches and Oculus service too. But guess what, Rhino shuts down.

I have the Rhino folder located in my Downloads then drag and drop and command launch. Any colleagues with the same problem ?

Did you get an answer from Mcneel ? Should we submit a bug report ?

I think by now we have to face the truth that this plugin is dead and won't be updated, such a shame, can we all send emails and request to Mcneel to have this come as standard in the next Version of Rhino ? Who's in ?

Hi @Alakelele and @gonzalocasas,

Sorry for not responding sooner - I don't get notified by email when a Github issue is created for some reason.

I am not able to reproduce this problem, but I've only tested this with a Rift - I don't have access to a Quest 2. When Rhino closes itself, does it show you a crash dialog? If so, please send it in and provide your email address in the field so that I can find your specific crash dump in our system.

I will try to get a colleague to test RhinoVR today with his personal Quest 2 to see if we can reproduce the issue.

PS: Make sure you're loading RhinoVR.rhp, and not RhinoVR_CS.rhp which might be a left-over that doesn't work anymore.

We’re able to get the crash to happen, and we know why it’s happening. Will let you all know when a fix is out.

I've updated RhinoVR to work around the crash bug. The new minimum version required for RhinoVR is Rhino 7 SR10.

Please try it out and let me know if it works for you now!
