Rhino crashes and SteamVR asks if I want to restart or quit. Would love to get this working if you think it's possible. Thx

I just tried RhinoVR with the original Oculus Rift, and it seems to work for me. What headset are you using and what computer hardware?

Hi, just getting onto this github world. I'd love to use RhinoVR in the latest RH7.

I have an HP Reverb G2. Anything I can do to get going with it in Rhino?

Thx

Hi,

In my opinion it should just work if the headset supports OpenVR. I don't have an HP Reverb G2, so I can't test it myself. Does Rhino pop up a crash dialog? If so, can you please paste the text from the dialog here so that I can take a look?

Thanks, David. So, it "works" now, as I can see the model space in the headset, but it's not immersed. Sort of looks like a folded monitor inside the headset, and I can't move around. Sort of like a squished panorama view.

HP Reverb G2 does support OpenVR.

Are you able to upload a video of what you see inside the VR in Rhino?

Hi David,

My show went down, so if you're interested, I'm available to do some active trials and feedback to see if we can get VR working for HP Reverb G2. I'd really like the ability to work in VR directly within Rhino.

Hi @MisterBananaPants,

Unfortunately I'm quite busy right now, so I don't any available time to look into this. If the headset is working correctly, you should be able to see the Rhino viewport in 3d - it shouldn't look flat or like a "folded monitor".

Also, I don't think you will be able to use Rhino in VR like you normally do - it's basically just a view-only experience.

One thing that would help would be if you could somehow see the output information from Rhino in case it tells you where things go wrong. You could try this by e.g. launching Rhino from the Windows command prompt (cmd.exe).

Also, if the VR view doesn't look right, try executing the RhinoVR command again to turn it off. Then, turn it on again. Does it look correct now?

Sorry that I can't be of more help right now. Good luck!

Hi David,

It's 3D now, but doesn't take up the entire view in my headset, and it's incredibly choppy. Totally understand if you can't deal with this -- just wanted to let you know. Should u circle back to it at any time, I'd be very interested in getting this to work. Thanks so much,

Alan
