The current appearance and user interface (UI) of the web platform does not align with modern design standards; it is similar to the Eclipse UI. Incorporating alternative CSS libraries such as Bootstrap or Material-UI, or exploring Metro UI in more depth, along with a few strategic adjustments, has the potential to enhance the user experience and attract a broader user base.

Key areas for improvement include:

• Buttons: Modernizing button styles by leveraging CSS libraries can provide a more contemporary look and feel to the UI, making it more visually appealing and user-friendly. Buttons and icons look alike at the moment.
• Standard Icon Libraries: Pointing to established icon libraries in the wiki can significantly reduce the graphic design workload for activity contributors. This approach promotes design consistency across the platform, especially when integrating new tools.

Just updating the icons already makes quite a bit of a difference - at least to my eyes - so perhaps we don't need a complete overhaul.

I like those icons :-).

I think @arturboronat's point was mostly about ensuring consistency across tools, too, which still remains as an issue.
