Not necessarily. On Macs, "Document Based" applications continue running when you click the red button until you hit Cmd-Q, while "Single Window" based applications do not... they quit the application when the red button is closed. For example, iPhoto and System Preferences close when the red button is pressed.
Buzzbird is not "document based", it's a single window, so I go with that behavior.
You can read more about it at Apple's HCI guidelines for developers, here: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/AppleHIGuidelines/XHIGWindows/XHIGWindows.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20000961-TP9
Hi Mike,
I am new to BuzzBird and I like the client and the fact that it is open source. I do, however, have one question or suggestion.
On a Mac it is very unusual that a program ends once the window is closed. Normally, the program keeps running, just the window is not displayed. Buzz Bird terminates once the window is closed. Could you find a way to fix this. Thunderbird and Firefox keep running and since Buzz Bird is build on a common basis with those it might be an easy fix.
Thanks for considering to fix this.
