Request to Add Hacktoberfest Support to the Focusly GitHub Repository #29826

Hello MDN/Content Repository Maintainers,

I hope this message finds you well. I would like to kindly request the addition of Hacktoberfest support to the MDN/Content repository. Hacktoberfest is a fantastic opportunity for developers to contribute to open source projects and learn from the community. By adding Hacktoberfest support, you can encourage more developers to get involved with MDN and make valuable contributions.

Here are a few reasons why adding Hacktoberfest support to MDN/Content is a great idea:

Community Growth: It would attract more contributors to the project and help grow the MDN community.

Diverse Contributions: Hacktoberfest encourages a wide range of contributions, from documentation updates to code improvements, which can benefit MDN.

Visibility: Your participation in Hacktoberfest would increase the visibility of MDN and potentially attract new users and contributors.

Learning Opportunity: It offers a chance for new contributors to learn more about MDN and web technologies.

Thank you for considering this request. I believe this addition could be a win-win for both MDN/Content and the open source community.

Looking forward to your response and hoping for a successful participation with Hacktoberfest.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion @KSSaiTeja - I think we're a bit late to the party for this year so I'm going to close this one for now. Hacktoberfest might be something for us to consider planning for 2024, as it would be great to have a curated list of suitable issues for people to work on.

I just wanted to highlight that we have a contributor task board where we're always happy to have new contributors explore and take part wherever possible. Issues labeled with good first issue are a great place to start.

Thank you :)

I am strongly opposed to adding Hacktoberfest, especially with MDN's low barrier to contribution. It just creates a ton of low-effort low-potential PRs that take maintainers more time perfecting than them doing it themselves. We are already witnessing some of them when people mistakenly think we are participating in Hacktoberfest—a bunch of "typo fixes" and "grammar improvements" that aren't really helpful.

okay @Josh-Cena and @bsmth understand your point.. i am closing this issue then
