thanks. The classification trouble with this fungi genus is because in the
january 2011 version of the catalogue of life we use there are 15! different
classifications for the genus:
http://ecat-dev.gbif.org/search?q=Cantharellus&rkey=10
It is a homonym and there is also a correct animal genus Cantharellus, but all
others are various fungi.
When we synthesize our backbone taxonomy the algorithm has to merge these
genera as we only recognize 1 fungi genus in this case. And obviously there is
no way to detect which classification is the correct one - it will probably
randomly pick one - apparently the wrong one. The latest catalogue of life does
not seem to have this problem, so it will hopefully be fixed in our next
backbone in a few weeks.

Thanks. No problem-- I have the same issues trying to keep up with the
names. Things get moved faster than I can get them checked.

In the latest nub this seems to be solved.
I cannot judge if its the correct classification though, but its a different
basidiomycete class and a correct looking order:
Cantharellus minor Peck, 1872
http://ecat-dev.gbif.org/usage/9643002
Kingdom Fungi
Phylum Basidiomycota
Class Agaricomycetes
Order Cantharellales
Family Cantharellaceae
Genus Cantharellus
Calycina firma (Pers.) Gray
http://ecat-dev.gbif.org/usage/9668507
Kingdom Fungi
Phylum Ascomycota
Class Leotiomycetes
Order Helotiales
Family Hyaloscyphaceae
Genus Calycina
