Extension to Import / Export Markdown Syntax? #487

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

I do lots of writing and brainstorming in plaintext using Markdown syntax. I'd
love to be able to move this in and out of my keepnote notebook. Import is
probably most important to me, but both would make
things a lot easier.

Love the program, thanks!

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Keepnote 0.7.2, Ubuntu 11.04

I've just installed 0.7.8 on Ubuntu 11.10.

Yes, Markdown or possibly MultiMarkdown input would be awesome.

I started using KeepNote instead of Tomboy, and the first thing I really wished
for, while writing the notes, was a markup input method instead of WYSIWYG.
What would be great, is a way to edit the notes in MultiMarkdown (perhaps
display them as HTML until the user wants to edit it).

The WYSIWYG HTML editor is OK for shorter notes, but for longer pieces it just
gets slow, gets in the way of typing, confuses the formatting boundaries (like
links that include the newline), but I understand that from an implementation
perspective WYSIWYG will always be this way.

(And of course, one can easily re-purpose MultiMarkdown notes (say, print a
note as a nice LaTeX PDF, or send a note to ppl as .ODT).)

Otherwise, KeepNote is great! More organized than Tomboy, but not as
overcomplicated as Basket.

I struggle for markdown sync in order to use my text mobile - both my ipad and
android phone have several .md editors syncing with dropbox, but still lack a
decent pc software. Memonic has .md, but no strong offline support.
Please, please:-

how can I help, where can I start programming?

I've long wished for structural elements (such as headings) in Keepnote, and
Markdown support would align perfectly with my workflow and needs in this
regard (even if it were only at the level of syntax highlighting).

I lack the skills myself to contribute meaningfully to this issue, but I thank
you for this piece of software I use every day.

Agreed. This would be a way to have my mobile notes available to keepnote.
