"Failed to start installation of OS templates." #324

Cannot install any template on a debian squeeze installation.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install ovz-web-panel using the automatic installation.
2. Log in at <IP>:3333 and add the physical server.
3. Click on "OS Templates" and then "Install New OS Template".

Actual result:
It loads the template list, but when you try to install one, an error message
appears: : "Failed to start installation of OS templates."

Expected result:
Template should be downloaded and installed, ready to create a new container.

Version of the product: 2.0 (svn version)

Server OS:
Debian Squeeze

Browser:
Google Chrome 12.0

Additional information:
Many other features do not work, such as physical server statistics and
synchronization. I'm unable to create a new container.

hello again,

I've been trying for a few hours and finally I realised that the hw-daemon
wasn't running. For some reason the hw-daemon.rb file was completely empty, so
I copied it from the tar.gz file and managed to start it.

Now it works.

thank you for you time!

PS: the manual installation instructions were not clear enough for me,
specially the following sentence:

"Then need to place hardware daemon on the server with OpenVZ. There are two
possible scenarios: panel is installed on hardware node or panel is on separate
server. Physical server daemon located at <install-root>/utils/hw-daemon/ Copy
content of directory to OpenVZ physical server."

I didn't understand where I had to copy this folder... I guess the location
isn't important.

Hi.

Another case of a empty hw-daemon.rb file.

I installed OpenVZ on debian squeeze x64 and then, i use the webinstaller from
the wiki.

I remplaced the empty file with the good one of the manual download.

Thank you and sorry for my imitation of english
